Raven Finch: The Curse of the Dead Woods
Urban Fantasy

What could be worse for 15 year old Raven Finch than being accused of being a witch by Ethan Noble, the annoying boy next door? Finding out he’s half warlock, half mortal, and he’s the only one who can help her when people start to disappear, and she fears she may be the next victim. Can this unlikely pair join forces against Agatha, the High Witch, who took Raven when she was born and has enslaved her at Castle Rock? Why are there similarities between Ethan and Raven, and why is it that all the peculiar things that are happening has her believing his accusations? Could it be that all the mixing of potions and reading of spell books to help Ethan is turning her into a witch? Or is her mind just playing tricks on her?

Hedgeland (Urban Fantasy)

Hedgeland, an urban fantasy of time travel. Dr April Neuland, a Professor of Ancient Languages turned non-fiction writer, has been plagued by dreams all her life, dreams of her past life in the Otherworld. Meanwhile, in a parallel dimension of April's past and Caridwen's future, Worthing, a Future History Professor, has allied with the Military to access Future Internet communications and use new technology to influence April to write an ebook novel revealing where she, in her past life as Caridwen, hid the Kiste, a device to travel through time and space. Hedgeland weaves all three time/space frames: Caridwen, Worthing, and April. Hedgeland is the first in the Hedgecraft Sequence, but is a fully self contained novel with no cliff hangers.

Author Dr Ann Nyland was on Faculty at the University of New England, Australia. She is a grammar pedant, ancient languages translator, and best selling non-fiction author of such books as The Complete Books of Enoch; Angels, Archangels and Angel Categories: What the Ancients Said; The Book of Jubilees; A Devil of a Job to Find Satan in the Bible, among others.

24/7 Book Cafe Review:
Treasure Me by: Christine Nolfi

5 Stars

Birdie is a hard-hearted thief that has suffered a lifetime of pain, mostly at the hands of her parents, who are also thieves. Being brought up in that lifestyle, it’s all Birdie knows. And as hard as she tries to go legit, she just can’t shake off her bad habit of stealing, until she meets up with the people of Liberty, Ohio, who take her in as one of their own, leaving her with guilt and remorse for stealing from the towns-people she has come to know as friends.

Hugh is equally hard-hearted, with his own ghosts from the past that still torment him. It would seem that he and Birdie would make a perfect match, given their strong attraction to each other, except that the two of them are too stubborn to yield to the other; and with Hugh investigating her past, he feels guilt, while all Birdie  seems interested in is how she can con him.

But when they are forced to share living quarters above the Second Chance Grill for convenience, things can get a little heated…

While Hugh chases after the story that could save his career as a newspaper reporter, Birdie is busy chasing the biggest heist she’s ever gone after. Can the two of them put to rest their pride and pasts long enough to settle into a life of normalcy, or will they destroy each other and everyone in their paths just to get what they want? Find out in this wonderful story of love and redemption, with a few surprises that will have you wondering just what Birdie and Hugh treasure most.

This author is so descriptive, I felt I was right there along-side Birdie and Hugh, seeing everything they saw, and feeling everything they felt. I highly recommend this book to fans of Chick Lit and Romance. It was cute and spunky when it needed to be and serious when the situation called for it. Theodora was so funny, she had me laughing all the way to the end. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, Second Chance Grill!

Book Description: From Amazon.com
Treasure Me, the first book in the Liberty series, is a blend of comedy, romance and mystery. Petty thief Birdie Kaminsky arrives in Liberty, Ohio to steal a treasure hidden since the Civil War. She’s in possession of a charming clue passed down in her family for generations: Liberty safeguards the cherished heart.

The beautiful thief wants to go straight. She secretly admires the clue’s author, freedwoman Justice Postell, who rose above the horrors of slavery to build a new life in Ohio. As Birdie searches for the treasure, she begins to believe a questionable part of the story: a tale of love between Justice and Lucas Postell, the French plantation owner who was Birdie’s ancestor.

If the stories are true, Justice bore a child with Lucas. Some of those black relatives might still live in town. Birdie can’t help but wonder if she’s found one—Liberty’s feisty matriarch, Theodora Hendricks, who packs a pistol and heartwarming stories about Justice. Birdie doesn’t know that an investigative reporter who has arrived in town will trip her up—as will her conscience when she begins to wonder if it’s possible to start a new life with stolen riches. Yet with each new clue she unearths, she discovers a family history more precious than gems, a tradition of love richer than she imagined.

Author's Inspiration behind the book:

Treasure Me is the only novel I’ve ever written that simply arose from my subconscious. I awoke one morning with this very amusing image of a young woman—a thief—dangling from a window trying to escape from the man whose pocket she’d picked. I’d already written Second Chance Grill several years earlier, and knew that this new book would also take place in the small town of Liberty. So the supporting cast was immediately in place: the town’s feisty matriarch, Theodora, who carries a Blackberry and a pistol; her nemesis, the fluttery Ethel Lynn, and all of the other characters who are an integral part of the town’s only restaurant, The Second Chance Grill.

What's next for Christine Nolfi?

Scond Chance Grill will appear on Amazon in June. It’s a “prequel” of sorts depicting the love story of Dr. Mary Chance, the town’s doctor, and Anthony Perini, a single dad with a very precious daughter. Of course the feisty women of Liberty—including Theodora—will be featured. You’ll learn a little more about the “bad blood” between Theodora and Ethel Lynn. Their battle was “fur and feathers” in Treasure Me. In Second Chance Grill, they’re even wilder.

The third novel in the series, The Impossible Wish, will arrive on Amazon in late autumn. It’s the story of Birdie’s infamous mother, Wish Kaminsky. The hero and heroine of that novel are nothing like Birdie and Hugh: think “clutzy female scientist” and “Mad Greek.” And, heaven help us, the evil Wish kidnaps Theodora. Don’t make me give anything else away. I’m striving for laugh-out-loud comedy from start to finish.

The other two novels are stand-alone books that will appear on Amazon this summer. I’d tell you the titles but I keep changing them as I polish the chapters.

Author bio:

Christine closed the firm fifteen years ago after she traveled to the Philippines and adopted a sibling group of four children. She has been writing novels fulltime since 2004.
