Birdie is a hard-hearted thief that has suffered a lifetime of pain, mostly at the hands of her parents, who are also thieves. Being brought up in that lifestyle, it’s all Birdie knows. And as hard as she tries to go legit, she just can’t shake off her bad habit of stealing, until she meets up with the people of Liberty, Ohio, who take her in as one of their own, leaving her with guilt and remorse for stealing from the towns-people she has come to know as friends.

Hugh is equally hard-hearted, with his own ghosts from the past that still torment him. It would seem that he and Birdie would make a perfect match, given their strong attraction to each other, except that the two of them are too stubborn to yield to the other; and with Hugh investigating her past, he feels guilt, while all Birdie  seems interested in is how she can con him.

But when they are forced to share living quarters above the Second Chance Grill for convenience, things can get a little heated…

While Hugh chases after the story that could save his career as a newspaper reporter, Birdie is busy chasing the biggest heist she’s ever gone after. Can the two of them put to rest their pride and pasts long enough to settle into a life of normalcy, or will they destroy each other and everyone in their paths just to get what they want? Find out in this wonderful story of love and redemption, with a few surprises that will have you wondering just what Birdie and Hugh treasure most.

Dr. A. Nyland has outdone herself with this book!

Dr. Nyland's understanding and expertise in the field of Angels is FLAWLESS, as is all of her work.
I never thought I could be a fan of such a complex subject, but this author delivers a superb knowledge of the material and makes it easy for those of us who are not scholars to grasp the concepts confined in these pages.
This does NOT read like all the boring text books out there--it reads so smoothly you forget you are gaining the exceptional knowledge of the author, which is indeed the next best thing to having a cup of coffee and intelligent conversation with Dr. Nyland herself.
Oh, what I wouldn't give to be able to pick that brain of hers on other subjects...but unfortunately I must wait for her next great book like everyone else!

Agatha is the High Witch, who enjoys casting spells and turning people into stone. When fifteen-year-old Raven challenges her, she discovers that wishing she was a witch is not the way to deal with Agatha's powerful antics.
Enter Ethan Noble, the warlock next door who has the same emerald green eyes as Raven, and you've got a recipe for even more confusion.
My favorite characters are Kabuki (the ghost), Vivian (the fairy) and Bolson (the liquid man in the fountain). This author has a very BIG imagination, and the book had enough mystery that I could NOT guess the character's every move before I was able to read it. I enjoyed reading about all the adventures that Raven and Ethan had when they went to the dead woods, and it was great how they outsmarted Agatha and used her spells against her.
If you like fantasy fiction, then this book is the right book for you--it was for me.
